          ૨૬ જાન્યુઆરી, ૨૦૧૬ની રાજ્ય કક્ષાની ઉજવણી ગીર સોમનાથ જિલ્લામાં સફળતાપૂર્વક યોજાઇ ગઇ. ફરજના ભાગરૂપે જિલ્લામાં રહેવાનું થયું. માનનીય રાજ્યપાલશ્રીએ તેમના પ્રવચનમાં ઉલ્લેખ્યા મુજબ 'સોમનાથ આપણને આપણી સફળતાઓ અને અસફળતાઓનું જ્ઞાન કરાવે છે.' સોમનાથની ભવ્યતાના ઐતિહાસિક વર્ણનો આપણી સમક્ષ અનેક લોકોએ કર્યા છે. આપણે એ ભવ્યતાના જ્યોતિર્ધર છીએ. પરંતુ એ ભવ્યતા વારંવાર લજવાણી છે, ભંગાણી છે, તૂટી છે અને નષ્ટ થવાની અણી પર આવીને ફરી બેઠી થઇ છે. સ્ફીનીક્સ પક્ષીના મિથકનું સાક્ષાત સ્વરૂપ કદાચ આ ઐતિહાસિક તવારિખ જ હોઇ શકે. સોમનાથ પર આક્રમણ થવું અને તેનું લુંટાવું એ આપણા સંક્રમિત – ભ્રમિત સમાજનું નબળું પરિણામ છે. સોમનાથને ભવ્ય બનાવવું અને તેનું પુન:નિર્માણ કરવું એ આપણી હકારાત્મક વિચારધારા અને પ્રતિબધ્ધતાનું સાફલ્ય સ્વરૂપ છે. વિદેશી આક્રમણકારો, વિધર્મી આક્રમણખોરો – લૂંટારાઓ દ્વારા સોમનાથની ભવ્યતાની લૂંટ અનેકવાર ચાલી અને આપણે અનેકવાર પુન: નિર્માણ કર્યું. પોરસાવું જ હોય તો આપણે કહી શકીએ કે તેઓની નકારાત્મકતા સામે આપણી હકારાત્મકતાનો વિજય થયો. તેઓ લૂંટતા રહ્યા અને આપણે ફરી બેઠાં ...

'પાંચીયાનું કાંઇ નો આવે'... અમે નાના હતા ત્યારે અમારા ગામના મગન દાદા ગોર લારી લઇને કુલ્ફી વેચવા નિકળતા અને ટાબરીયાવ જ્યારે હરખાઈને કુલ્ફી લેવા દોડી જતાં એટલે એકાદ બે ટાબરીયાવ પાંચીયુ આપે ને મગન દાદા ઉપરનું બ્રહ્મ જ્ઞાન પીરસે. પાંચીયાનું તો હવે પંચનામું થઈ ગયું છે ને એના ઉત્તરાધિકારી ચલણી સિક્કા પણ સમયના વહેણમાં તણાઈ ગયા છે. હવે તો પચાસ પૈસા કાઢો તો પણ જાણે તમે ઝિમ્બાબ્વેથી આવ્યા હોવ તેમ લોકો તમને ઘુરશે. પૈસા નું અસ્તિત્વ હવે છેલ્લા શ્વાસ ગણી રહ્યું છે. અને સાથોસાથ લોકોની નૈતિકતા પણ. સૌને રાતોરાત ધનવાન થવાનો ગાંડો ચસકો લાગ્યો છે. મબલખ વસ્તુઓથી ઉભરાતી બજારોમાં વસ્તુની સાથે નૈતિકતા પણ પડીકે બંધાઇ રહી છે. તમે ઘરે જઈને પડીકું ખોલશો તો વસ્તુ નિકળશે પણ સાથે બંધાયેલ નૈતિકતા છૂ થઈ ગઈ હશે. બે કોડીની વસ્તુ બાર કોડીમાં વેચશે અને ઉપરથી કહેશે 'આ તો તમે છો એટલે આ ભાવ છે બાકી આ ભાવે ન પોસાય.' વારંવાર સંભળાતી આ વાત પર પોરસાવાનું આપણે ક્યારે બંધ કરીશું? આમ તો આ નરાધમ વાયરો આખા ભારતમાં ફેલાણો હોઇ શકે, પણ આપણને તો ગુજરાતનો વાયરો જ કવરાવે ને? આખા ગુજરાતમાં લગભગ તમામ દુકાને જાણે એકસામ...

         માં ભારતીના પનોતા પુત્ર શ્રી એ પી જે અબ્દુલ કલામ સાહેબનું અનંત પ્રયાણ અને સમગ્ર રાષ્ટ્રનું એક સુરમાં વિદાયમાન આપવું એ હું સમજણો થયો ત્યારથી મેં જોયેલી અભૂતપૂર્વ ઘટના છે. મારૂં આ બાબતનું અનુભવ આધારિત જ્ઞાન સિમિત હોઇ શકે પરંતુ એ મહાન આત્માને અંજલી આપવા જે રીતે અબાલ વૃદ્ધ સૌએ ટ્વીટર , ફેસબુક થી વ્હોટ્સએપ્પ સુધી હ્ર્દયગાન કર્યુ તે ભલભલા પ્રસિદ્ધ હસ્તીઓને દોહ્યલું રહ્યું છે , રહે છે અને રહેશે. અઢળક ઉર્જાના જ્યોતિર્ધરની પ્રેરક વાતોની વિગતો , તેમના જીવન કવન અને તેમની સાથે જોડાયેલ વાતો તો વીકીપીડીયા કે અન્ય કોઇ લેખ માળા કે વેબસાઇટ પર સહસા ઉપલબ્ધ હશે. અહીં એ વાતોને દોહરાવવાનો યત્ન નથી. કદાચ , તેમની અપ્રતિમ હસ્તીને મારા શબ્દો પૂર્ણ ન્યાયથી વ્યક્ત કરવામાં અસમર્થ રહે તેમ પણ બને. આથી , આપણે તેમના દેહવિલયની વ્યથાને સમગ્ર દેશની પ્રજાએ જે રીતે વ્યક્ત કરી તેની વાત કરવી છે. કલામ સાહેબ મુઠ્ઠી ઉંચેરા માનવી હતાં તેમાં ક્યારેય કોઇ બે મત હોઇ જ ન શકે. તેમણે પ્રાપ્ત કરેલી સિદ્ધિઓ અને તેમના પ્રયત્નો થકી રાષ્ટ્ર્ને પ્રાપ્ત થયેલ અનન્ય સિદ્ધિઓ આવનારી અનેક પેઢીઓ સુધી વ્યાપ્ત ...

It’s easy to speak about ethics and also difficult to speak about it in India. Anybody can speak on it – from layman to lord man without even observing it in their life. People speak about somebody not behaving ethically and when comes their turn, they play hide and seek. You can speak about anybody’s ethics anytime in any way but what about hiding your own unethical movement? We, as a nation, have overgrown in size and simultaneously we have overgrown in downfall of our ethics. It’s pity when we hear about Kalmadi, (yet again?) A Raja, Nira Radia and Adarsh Society etc. It’s shocking when we find our government providing them shelter but worse is yet to come and it’s unacceptable when we find people around us, who used to talk about ethics, are found feeding such corruption hungry mammoths. When a person resorts to bribe, may it be a Rupee or crores of Rupees, it’s unethical in every sense but we term it as need of time because it concerns us. We love to blame others of illegal acts ...

Well, finally the monster of election -as I had called it in my last post- has gone off from our area for the time being. It has gone to deep sleep for sometime like Kumbhkarn and will awake when the Gram Panchayat elections do commence. This election was a clean sweeper. The steam roller of BJP has almost crushed Congress out of it. Anyway, today I am here not to talk of all that stuff. I want to draw your attention towards one trivial thing all of us have used but not noticed or even not brought to notice of people concerned for that matter. We have been put to election duties every time. This was my 8th election duty. And; since my first acquaintance with this national duty, I have observed it; so this time, I am putting it for others to view. Every time, when we are deployed on duty, I have seen that Election Commission provides us with a tobacco tin to use it as a container to hold the indelible ink bottle on sand filled in the tin. We live in a country which is obsessed with the monster called election. Almost every year, we are thrown into the atmosphere of 'Lubhavani' election. One or the other election comes by and the gangs of bastardly robbers become active to seduce people to turn as active voters even though they are unable to provide them with water. Election is good for the health of democracy but now I feel it is better for the health of politicians. Elections are expensive and the outcome of it is even more expensive as the elected members mostly indulge themselves in making money by hook or crook without caring for national interest.
