Green Treen
I am posting one of my poems here. It was written way back after Mumbai train blasts. It, in no way, tries to pin point any cast or religion but the inhuman terrorists so it should be read with that in mind.
Green Treen?
Woken up one morning,
I found a sudden change…
Everywhere…
Life which used to be vibrant,
Had been engulfed by green imprints.
The sky was no more blue, but green
The sun had no yellow light,
But shades of green
The seas, the oceans, the rivers and
Every body of water were mixed with color green.
The trees, the plants and the birds
Which were naturally green,
Had now been painted red…
Blood red…
Green snow and red leaves surrounded the mountains.
The world bore only two colors- green and red.
Singing, shining and fluttering birds were throbbing with fear
All the words were transcribed in Arabic or Urdu clear.
Women all were shut in “burkhas”
And, children all were taught on pages green:
The benefits of being “Fidayeen”.
In a quick succession,
I heard blasts;
Something flew fast
And pierced into my heart.
I cried… not out of pain but…
But out of the sight of the blood flaw;
Venomously green…
Somebody laughed cruelly.
A Mullah, holding Quraan, banged and banned;
Cried out: “Save Islam, Save Mankind”
“We are Islam”, said Aslam.
“Go green, get red”,
“Be us or nothing”-
New slogans covered the world.
Mullah’s cry with other cries was blown off with an explosion.
On TV, a program was telecast- “Reality Bites”
Reality bites?
Well, it does.
My alarm clock rang: “treen treen!”
I heard: Green Treen!?
Was it for me or the world...?
