Ishqiya... Dil To bachcha hai...

Excellent beginning...perfect blending...& superb ending... that's exactly how I would like to describe this iahqui film Ishqiya. The big welcome to Abhishek Chaubey the director. The film is dramatic, crisp and crunchy. The magnetic effect begins with the first scene itself where you have Holmes like shadow and a photographer to click at you. From then on every shot is a winner. Introduction of Vidya, her love tickles with hubby and the blast with title Ishqiya promise you that you are gonna see a different movie. Same is the entry of Arshad and maverick Naseer- two rogues like thieves dancing to the tunes of 'Ajeeb dastan hai ye'. It, once again, promises you of different experience. And the journey of shocks and surprises begins. The look of the film is rustic and the rural smell almost reaches your nostrils. Vidya, Arshad and Naseer all are simply fantastic to watch. Vidya allows you to develop ishq. Arshad and Naseer jolt you with power packed performances. And yes, without fail, YOU CAN"T MISS 'Dil to bachcha hai...' and 'Ibne Batuta' songs. Dil to... is a sheer joy to watch- beautiful! Life is a tale in which everything doesn't happen according to plan and you pay the price of your follies. Characters reveal this without uttering it. And the movie also tells you that even though everything seems to have ended, still there is something to hold on. Words aren't necessary to tell these things. The language might raise some purists' eyebrows... let them , who cares? I saw media talking mediocre about the spit spat abuses in the film; and I felt: what is more harmful to society- a film with abusive words or a series of sensationalised or maltreated news items? What hurts more- actors spitting as part of their characters or so called leaders, police and politicians spitting in public? I think we have to redefine our ideology of criticising anything. It's not normal when a character speaks an abusive word but is it normal when somebody around us does the same in reality? Ishqiya is a well made movie and must be applauded. Contradicting popular reviews, I would say that the end of the film is fine, even exactly fine. I see no probs over the climax. It's perfectly executed. I had the remembrance of Baxi's controversial story- Kutti at the end seeing Vidya walking along Naseer and Arshad. We must be happy that we have brave new hearts lining up in the film industry.
Vishal Bhardwaj and his team have done a wonderful job to think it out and put on the board. My talk will be just empty if I don't mention one of my favourite lyricists- Gulzar. He makes words play and leads you to unexplored zones of poetry. Gulzar and Vishal combo has attracted me ever since Machis.
Go fall in Ishq(as Taran Adarsh said in his review) with Ishqiya. I have thoroughly enjoyed the movie and I am sure that every 'different sort of movie lover' would also love this one. 2010 has begun well. I am waiting to watch the Big B films Rann and Tin Patti in which Big B and Ben are co stars. What a joy it would be?!
For now, Three cheers!!! for the Ishqiya team. Waiting for more from Chaubey and Bhardwaj. Watch it and hum to the tunes of 'Ibne Batuta' and 'Dil to bachcha hai...' and you will definitely feel- Dil to bachcha hai ji....
